Android digital boundaries

Create better digital boundaries.

A calmer, more intentional way to decide what belongs on your screen, where and when.

Technology should fit into life — not take over it.

About ZenFence

A better boundary for the digital world

Technology is now part of almost everything we do — learning, communication, entertainment, work and family life. The challenge is not technology itself. The challenge is creating the right boundaries around it.

ZenFence was created to make those boundaries simpler.

ZenFence is an Android application designed to help individuals and families create a more intentional digital environment. Instead of making digital wellbeing complicated, ZenFence brings everyday rules, approved applications, website boundaries, schedules and safe locations together in one place.

Why ZenFence

Small decisions, repeated every day

Digital habits are shaped by small, repeated decisions.

An application that is useful during the day may become distracting at another time. A website that is appropriate in one situation may not be appropriate during study time. A child may need access to educational applications at school while having a completely different set of boundaries at home.

ZenFence is designed around this idea. It allows users to define where, when and what should be available on a device.

  • PlaceWhere
  • TimeWhen
  • AccessWhat

Rather than relying on a single restriction mechanism, ZenFence combines configurable application policies, website policies, schedules, safe-space rules and a dedicated launcher experience.

Real-life situations

Designed around the day you actually have

01

Safe Space

Create location-based digital boundaries for places that matter.

A Safe Space can define a location and radius where a different set of applications and websites becomes available. This can help create dedicated digital environments for places such as home, school or other trusted locations.

02

Daily Lore

Digital routines often work better when they are planned.

Daily Lore allows users to create one-time or recurring schedules with defined time periods and associated rules. This provides a structured way to establish digital routines throughout the day.

03

Random Lore

Digital access can also be organized by category.

ZenFence provides category-based experiences for areas such as:

  • Social media
  • Gaming
  • AI applications
  • Other categories introduced over time

This makes it easier to apply a consistent rule to a group of applications rather than managing every application individually.

04

Zenfench Launcher

ZenFence can provide a dedicated launcher experience where only applications permitted by the active digital policy are presented.

The objective is not to make the device complicated. It is to make the right choices easier.

05

Accountability

Some digital boundaries are easier to maintain when another trusted person can participate.

ZenFence includes an Accountability Partner concept that allows a trusted person to participate in selected protected changes and approvals.

This introduces an additional layer of responsibility without requiring the other person to manage every aspect of the device.

06

Profile Sharing

Digital preferences do not always need to be configured from scratch.

ZenFence can allow users to share selected application and website policy configurations with another ZenFence user. The recipient can review the shared configuration before applying it.

This is intended to make configuration easier while keeping the decision to apply a shared profile with the receiving user.

Privacy

Privacy is part of the design

ZenFence is built with a privacy-conscious approach. Device enforcement stays on the phone where it can. Cloud services are used only for the account features that need them.

Local-first enforcement

Where enforcement can be performed directly on the device, the design favors local processing.

Minimal data

ZenFence is designed to avoid collecting unnecessary personal content, including private conversations, passwords and personal messages.

User-defined rules

Policies follow the applications, websites, schedules and places you choose to configure.

Secure cloud services

Accounts, sync, notifications, subscriptions and profile sharing use cloud services only where those features require them.

The application uses Android capabilities such as Usage Access, Accessibility Services, VPN functionality, notifications and location permissions where required by specific features.

These capabilities are used to provide the application's functionality — for example, determining the active application, enforcing application policies, applying website rules, or determining whether a location-based rule is active.

  • Core digital-boundary features do not need the contents of private conversations, passwords or personal messages.
  • Website rules can be applied through a local VPN mechanism rather than a browsing profile sold to advertisers.
  • The full explanation of data practices lives in the privacy policy.

Responsible habits

Built for responsible digital habits

ZenFence is not intended to replace communication between parents and children or trust between people.

Technology boundaries work best when they are understandable and agreed upon.

Our goal is to provide the tools that make those boundaries practical:

  • Clear rules.
  • Meaningful choices.
  • Safer digital spaces.
  • Healthier routines.

ZenFence is independently built around a simple idea: technology should serve the person using it.

Our vision

Practical digital wellbeing

We believe digital wellbeing should be practical rather than complicated.

Our vision for ZenFence is to create a flexible digital-boundary platform that helps people use technology with greater intention — while giving families the tools they need to establish appropriate digital environments.

ZenFence is being developed independently with a focus on useful features, responsible technology use and privacy-conscious engineering.

Build your digital boundary.

Create your ZenFence.
